Watershed Loggers Promote Certified Harvesting
April 2006

Rick Lutz and Eric Dahlberg, regional loggers, are posed with their new Trained Logger Certified job site signs. These 18 X 24 inch signs are given to regional loggers who become Trained Logger Certified. The Trained Logger Certification (TLC) program was developed to provide loggers a comprehensive training that covers three areas of importance to loggers, including appropriate chainsaw use and safe tree felling techniques, forest ecology and first aid/CPR skills. Game of Logging Level I will be held on May 2 at Frost Valley YMCA Model Forest in Claryville , NY and covers basic chainsaw safety and open face felling techniques. Forest Ecology & Silviculture covers the history, ecology, and management of New York's forests and will be offered on April 28 at the Lennox Model Forest in Delhi, NY First Aid & CPR is being offered on May 19 at a location to be announced. These three classes can be applied towards a Trained Logger Certification.
