Education: B.S. in Forest Management from the University of Massachusetts and continuing education qualifications with the Society of American Foresters (SAF).
Special Interests: Educational support for the New York Forest Owners Association (NYFOA) and Cornell Cooperative Extension, logging, sawmilling and woodworking.
Mission Statement: My career goal, both as a public forester (retired DEC Chief Forester) and private consultant forester, is to promote sustainable management of New York's dynamic, renewable forest resource. I am a strong advocate for hiring foresters on the basis of work done, not on commission of forest products sold, in order to avoid any perception of a potential conflict of interest. This mission has led to me receiving the NYFOA Heiberg Award in 1993, NYSAF Forester of the Year 1993, and the SAF Presidents Award in 2000 for New York/New England.
