Engineering Specialist

Job Description

The Engineering Specialist will serve as a technical specialist to work cooperatively in the design and implementation of Best Management Practices (BMPs) with planning and implementation teams.

Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Design BMPs including: fuel storage facilities, housing facilities for calves, agricultural ventilation systems and related agricultural equipment.
  • Clearly explaining design packages and procurement procedures to farmers, and coordinating project implementation with contractors and farmers.
  • Oversee construction of BMPs following an approved design.
  • Assist with innovative solutions and designs to solve water quality problems.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively and have good organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain a professional working relationship within a team setting.
  • Knowledge of basic engineering and construction skills used in the design of agricultural buildings and water quality practices.
  • Knowledge of farming practices on dairy and other livestock operations.
  • Computer knowledge including word processing and spreadsheet applications. Familiarity with computer aided design programs will be helpful.
  • Associates Degree required, Bachelors Degree preferred.


Reporting Relationships:

  • Works under the direct supervision of the Agricultural Program Manager.
