Engineering Specialist (Small Farms)

The Watershed Agricultural Council is seeking an Engineering Specialist for its Small Farms Program. The Engineering Specialist will be a member of the Small Farms Team and serve as a conservation technician to work cooperatively in the planning, design and implementation of Agricultural Best Management Practices (BMPs) in the Watershed Agricultural Program (WAP) in the West of Hudson Watershed. Easement Program Land Conservation Stewardship Specialist

The Watershed Agricultural Council is seeking an Easement Program Stewardship Specialist to assist in the stewardship of agricultural conservation easements designed to protect agricultural and forestry viability and water quality. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in supporting field; Three years related experience in land conservation or natural resource management; as well as additional requirements further detailed in position description. Salary commensurate with experience; excellent benefits package including but not limited to 8% employer contribution to 403(b) pension; health, dental and vision insurance (employer pays 95% of cost of plan); and portable term life insurance policy. EOE.

Internships (6 positions)

The Watershed Agricultural Council seeks 6 Interns/Temporary employees to perform various duties as part of a Watershed Agricultural Program (WAP) serving farms within the NYC Watershed. 4 of the positions will be Nutrient Management soil samplers who will perform the duties of soil sampling and data collection, 1 position will be a WAP Planning Intern who will perform the duties of soil sampling, data collection and whole farm planning, and 1 position will be a WAP Ag/Field intern who will assist WAP staff with the implementation of BMP’s. These are 10 week summer positions that pay $12.00 per hour. Must have dependable vehicle, insurance and a valid driver’s license. Will be reimbursed for mileage incurred on the job. E.O.E. The Watershed Agricultural Council is seeking an Easement Program Land Conservation (Acquisition) Specialist to collaborate with landowners and contractors to develop, plan and implement purchased conservation easements on farm properties in the NYC Watershed. The WAC Easement Program is a fully funded PDR program with easements purchased at full market value, no bargain sales. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in supporting field, 2 years related experience in land conservation, as well as additional requirements further detailed in the position description. Agricultural Program Conservation Planner

The Watershed Agricultural Council is seeking an Agricultural Program Conservation Planner to be responsible for the development of Whole Farm Plans (WFP), maintenance and monitoring of existing WFPs and the implementation of conservation practices within the West of Hudson (WoH) Catskill/Delaware Watershed region of the New York City drinking water supply. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in agronomy, environmental science, agriculture, natural resource management or related disciplines (i.e. biological sciences).  Substitution of an Associate’s Degree in similar field of study and at least two years relevant field experience will be considered; Agricultural Environmental Management (AEM) Certified Nutrient Management Planner (CNMP) certification preferred. Applicants in the process of receiving this certification may be considered; NRCS Conservation Planner certification and CNMP experience highly considered; as well as additional requirements further detailed in position description.
