WAC Land Conservation (Acquisition) Specialist

The Watershed Agricultural Council is seeking an Easement Program Land Conservation (Acquisition) Specialist to collaborate with landowners and contractors to develop, plan and implement purchased conservation easements on farm properties in the NYC Watershed. The WAC Easement Program is a fully funded PDR program with easements purchased at full market value, no bargain sales. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in supporting field, 2 years related experience in land conservation, as well as additional requirements further detailed in POSITION DESCRIPTION. Salary commensurate with experience; excellent benefits package including but not limited to 8% employer contribution to 403(b) pension; health, dental and vision insurance (employer pays 95% of cost of plan); and portable term life insurance policy. EOE.

Conservation Easement Program Internship

The Watershed Agricultural Council seeks a Conservation Easement Program Intern/Temporary employee to work with the WAC Easement Program. The Easement Program Staff work with landowners in the NYC Watershed to acquire and uphold agricultural and forestry conservation easements (CE). This seasonal position will provide technical support to the WAC Easement Program including, but not limited to, significant Geographic Information Systems (GIS) work, recordkeeping and filing projects, data checking, data collection and ground truthing. This position will primarily involve office-related work, but may at times require field work in potentially adverse weather conditions. The desired candidate will be passionate about agricultural and/or forestland conservation, familiar and capable with ArcGIS, legal documentation (special preference to experience with CE’s), and possess excellent organizational and communication abilities. The duration of this position will be 8 – 10 weeks from late spring through the summer of 2016. The rate of pay will be $12.00 per hour, 40 hours per week. Must have a valid driver’s license. EOE.

Internship Positions Available

The Watershed Agricultural Council seeks 6 Interns/Temporary employees to perform various duties as part of a Watershed Agricultural Program (WAP) serving farms within the NYC Watershed. 4 of the positions will be Nutrient Management soil samplers who will perform the duties of soil sampling and data collection, 1 position will be a WAP Planning Intern who will perform the duties of soil sampling, data collection and whole farm planning, and 1 position will be a WAP Ag/Field intern who will assist WAP staff with the implementation of BMP’s. These are 10 week summer positions that pay $10.50 per hour. Must have dependable vehicle, insurance and a valid N.Y.S. driver’s license. Will be reimbursed for mileage incurred on the job. E.O.E.
